Genocide is a real thing. Understanding the sheer horror of genocide is important because genocide is still happening today. The most well documented genocide in history is the Holocaust. During this time people were dehumanized and treated like inventory. Men and women regardless of age were murdered because they were either Jewish or chose to fight against Hitler's agenda. The best way to understand all of the data that was collected on people that were murdered in concentration camps is to take the collected data and analyze it. The analysis of data is the process of either collecting data or using previously collected data, important the data into a program like Excel or Google Sheets, performing t-tests, creating survivorship curves, and graphs that allow for the data to be presented in a visual way so that it can be understood. |
Analyzing data allows us to understand what is happening in the world around us. While the Holocaust happened over 50 years ago, the horror of genocide has continued through to today. Currently there are at least 9 countries that are experiencing genocide, Burma, D.R. Kongo, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Darfur, Afghanistan, and Iraq. While the horrors are often televised on the news, few actually understand the depth of the horror with genocide. The best way to make genocide real in our minds is to analyze the data that was collected throughout World War II by the Nazi party. Once genocide is real in our minds, we will have the courage to stand up and do something about it.
